In an exclusive story with Forbes, Maven announced our first acquisition today. We’re welcoming Bright Parenting to Maven to bring our vision of a more integrated model of parenting and pediatrics to life. Bright is the leading parenting app that helps parents of children ages 2-10 learn and use proven behavioral health techniques and skills to build strong parent-child relationships.
“In less than six years, Kate Ryder has managed to launch a global, digital health clinic for women and families, raise $90 million in funding to scale her startup, and prove to the male-dominated tech industry that women’s health isn’t a “niche market”. Today, the founder and CEO of Maven announced the acquisition of San Jose, California-based startup Bright Parenting to equip parents with proven behavioral techniques and skills.”
So what does that mean for Maven members?
In addition to the hundreds of resources that members can already access, Maven will be embedding Bright Parenting’s library of content directly into our upcoming pediatrics and parenting program. Maven will provide holistic support for parents well past the first year postpartum. Our new pediatrics and parenting program will give integrated support all the way through pre-adolescence. Through this expansion, Maven will close the gaps in care throughout the entire family journey and give parents more support than ever before.
“Supporting strong parent-child relationships leads to better outcomes for children, and is a critical component of growing healthy families,” said Kate Ryder, Founder and CEO of Maven. “With the childcare and mental health challenges brought on by COVID-19, there’s never been a more important time to invest in supporting parents, particularly working parents.”
“The tight integration of personalized care, content, and community is the core of our virtual clinic and what differentiates us as more than just a telemedicine platform,” said Erik Lumer, Chief Product Officer at Maven. “Bright’s clinically-grounded, engaging content and goal-directed practices stood out as a perfect fit with our strategy of empowering parents with both education and coaching designed around their individual family needs.”
Since 2018, Bright has helped more than 50,000 parents develop strong relationships with their children. Bright’s daily, personalized tips, activities, and practices help parents enjoy parenting more, in just two minutes per day. Bright’s interactive content is designed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) practitioners and other behavioral health experts. Bright’s actionable content will become part of Maven’s personalized care model for parents with the support of Care Advocates and on-demand access to Pediatricians, Mental Health Specialists, Pediatric Occupational Therapists, and more across 25 specialties in Maven’s virtual clinic.
This acquisition helps Maven fill a gap in the market and provide much needed support for busy parents raising children over the age of two.
“Since the beginning, our mission has always been to help parents develop strong relationships with their kids, and joining Maven allows us to deliver on that mission at a much larger scale,” said Steve Jacobs, CEO and Founder of Bright Parenting, who will join Maven as Vice President of Product.
The Bright acquisition is just another step on Maven’s journey to provide high-quality care and modern family benefits to all—and we couldn’t be more excited. All of this comes off a period of high growth for Maven. We’re improving access to care, launching new expert-vetted resources dedicated to COVID-19, and creating tailored, fast-track product offerings for employers and health plans looking to enhance their support of women and families during this time. Maven has supported more than 5 million families since its founding in 2014.
